My Love for Nature

Beautifying World

One of the biggest things in my life has been nature. I grew up in a very urban city filled with nothing but businesses and buildings. When I could find time to be out in nature, I would take every chance that I could get. So when given the chance to be able to take pictures of nature, I was more than happy to do so. I decided to take a walk around my apartment to see all the diffrent plants that I could find. Even though I walk past them almost every day, I still see beauty in them. I wanted to be able to capture that in pictures.

My love for nature has been with me my whole life, but something that really exemplified this was taking my English 295 class. It was in that class that I had the honor of reading William. Wordsworth. He was a romantic poet who wrote loads of poems on nature. My favorite one of these is a poem called The Tables Turned. It’s about how we can learn so much from reading nature, so much so that he actually tells the reader to stop reading and go outside in nature. I think it is so ironic that a poet would tell you to stop reading his work as you are reading it. If you have time, I would recommend taking a moment to listen to this reading of this gorgeous poem.

In a world that is so bustling, especially as a college student, I always try to find little ways to find peace. One of those is with studying; it’s something that I have to do for my classes, regardless, so why not make it more whimsical by putting on some nature sounds in the background? The video below is one of my favorites. When the weather is especially great, I love to take my books outside to read on a bench or on a blanket in the field. But when I can’t get the real thing, I like to get the closest thing to it.

I have lived in Virginia all my life. If you have been reading my blog for a while, you are no stranger to my thoughts about Virginia. I do not like it here, I am bored with everything; it’s all the same scenery and the same places to me. While discussing nature, it made me think about how some people truly love Virginia, and how there are numerous places in the state that people would genuinely travel to see. It got me thinking about the one place that I did really enjoy in my time here: Shenandoah National Park. I would go with my family every year for Memorial Day weekend. Despite having a hatred of Virginia, this is the one place that wouldn’t mind staying at.
